Premier Seeds International (Pty) Ltd is a relatively new company on the South African vegetable seed scene. It started primarily as a marketing operation for one supplier but now, after more than a dozen years, it represents several international seed companies of note.

Premier operates countrywide and into over border territories through a dealer network covering the major vegetable production areas. There is a team of field operatives who provide technical support service to the dealers or who work directly with customers in areas where there is no agent available.

The head office is centrally located in Pretoria.

The Company also arranges for professionally run product evaluations and enters candidates for State registration. Of  late Premier Seeds has been contracting vegetable seed productions for various clients.

The vegetable seed range is extensive. Not only does it include the public lines commonly used in South Africa but also proprietary products sold on an exclusive basis on behalf of overseas suppliers. The Company also has its own selections of several popular lines.

In addition to the vegetables there are sunflowers for cut-flowers, herbs, pastures (such as lucerne and grass mixtures) and maize for ‘green mielie’ or ‘corn-on-the-cob’ use.

Ancillary products include an easy to use balanced fertiliser mixture for hydroponic situations, potting/rooting medium additives to enhance moisture retention and regulate nutrient release, as well as a QAC sanitiser and a seedling tray sterilant that also acts as a root inhibitor.
